Truth #1 – 

18.24-lakh athletes took part in State-wide 
month-long Khel Mahakumbh-2011.

Truth #2 –


Gramin Olympics –
 More than 34000 athletes participated during Gramin Olympics 
organized at Tranetar, Devigadh-Bariya and Ahva Dang.

Truth #3 – 
18.24-lakh sportspersons, including 6.92-lakh sportswomen, 
took part in 17 different events held at 1,500 villages, 
talukas and district towns this year, surpassing last year’s 
participation by 14-lakh athletes. They broke 88 records, 
42 by sportswomen this year.

Truth #4 –

It was for the first time that a special Olympic for 58,305 
physically challenged took part in 15 events and 5,429 ‘sagarkehdus’ 
(communities living in coastal regions) in beach sports.

Truth #5 –

4000 women all together under one roof, 
setting up world record in the game of chess in Gandhinagar.

Truth #6 –

Eklavya Archery Academy for Gujarati Archers – 
12 archers won medals at the state level and 3 at the national level.

Truth #7 – 

Chess Competition organized for 20,000 chess players in year 2010.

Truth #8 – 

Needbased assistance to players under shaktidoot Yojna, 
Scholarship to Females participating at national level.

Truth #9 – 

Rs. 2209.67 Crores were spend for development 
of Playgrounds under ‘Sardar Patel Ramat Gamat Sankul’, 
in 10 different districts.

Truth #10 – 

2011 Khel Mahakumbh Grand Sports Created Record – 
with participation of 60,000 specially-abled athletes 
and over 27,000 kabaddi teams.

Truth #11 – 

The French MNC, Oxylane Decathon Sports, is targeting to 
set up sports village at 3 different locations in Gujarat, 
one of them near Ahmedabad on a 20-acre land.
